The St Joan de Angely track provided high excitement and drama. Team Honda riders Eric Geboers and Dave Thorpe were set to restore factory pride after Dirk Guerkens won the opening 500 GP round. Jacky Vimond (Honda) was confident of a good result, as was Jeff Leisk.
