Slippery Sam Triumph Trident Print TRIUMPH TRIDENT ?SLIPPERY SAM? 741cc 1970 The most celebrated Triumph racer of all time, the only bike ever to win 5 TT races in the Isle of Man in 5 conecutive years, Slippery Sam was built in 1970 as a works production racer. Its specification is based on the standard Triumph 750cc three-cylinder Trident model introduced in 1969. In 1972 it was acquired by Les Williams of Coventry, a Triumph race engineer, who has maintained it and been its entrant since that time. Its nickname was due to a malfuntioning oil pump in a Continental event which plastered the machine with oil. In 1975 Alex George lapped the Isle of Man TT Circuit on Slippery Sam at 102.82 mph.
